Meet Fredric Francis: Using Education to Make A Better Life For His Kids

It wasn't that Fredric Francis had an unhappy childhood; it was just that his parents were always working to make sure he and his three siblings had a roof over their heads and enough food to eat. He has taken steps to ensure he doesn't have to work as much as his parents did. Fredric was the first male in his family in generations to graduate with a college degree. And Fredric actually graduated with two Bachelor's Degrees in Business Administration, one with a concentration in Management and one in Healthcare Management.

"I wanted to offer my family a better lifestyle than what myself and my fiancé had growing up. Neither of my parents are college graduates and they both had to work; at some points my father had to work three jobs to keep things together. I got my education so I don't have to worry about where my two kids' next meal is coming from and whether or not I can afford all the housing bills this month."

Fredric's choice seems to have already paid off. Since graduating with his degrees a few months ago, he has already received a promotion from Fleet Management Assistant to Fleet Manager. As a Fleet Manager, Fredric is responsible for a $1.5 million account, one of his company's 20 largest accounts. "Having been promoted to this position shows I have the educational and work experience background to take this account to the next level." And his parents—Fredric's mom works for Walgreens and his father is a project manager with a security company—are extremely proud. Fredric's academic and employment success has even inspired one of his brothers to get a surgical tech degree.

But Fredric isn't going to be content with being a Fleet Manager for long. He started in an MBA program at AIU Online within weeks of completing his undergrad degrees and has already checked out Ph.D. and DBA programs with other universities.

"I plan on going into politics. I believe that by doing this, I will be able to do the most good for our country and help those who really need it." While in the Marines, which he enlisted in right after high school, Fredric saw the difference one person could make. He was the Assistant Toys for Tots Director for his area. "It was amazing to see the impact one person could have and the changes they could make. I want to do that on a larger scale someday."

Senator Fredric Francis doesn't sound bad at all. Or better yet, President Fredric Francis. "The dream of everyone going into politics is to be president. It's good to have high goals. First I'll finish with all of my degrees though."
