When Gerilyn Livermont was told she could not get a degree it led her to do just that and more. "I was told by my family and peers that I could not continue my education. Instead of deterring me, that inspired me to look into getting a degree. I was somewhat apprehensive, however, since I live over 50 miles away from the nearest outreach campus of a traditional university, have family responsibilities and work full-time as an Administrative Assistant. I knew earning a degree could be difficult for me, so I looked into several options."
Discovering the option of online learning through AIU Online further inspired Gerilyn to continue her education. Facing long work hours and a long commute, the convenience of online learning through AIU Online immediately appealed to Gerilyn. "Online learning is less time-consuming and more convenient for anyone working long hours with family responsibilities. Online learning through AIU Online fits my lifestyle." Gerilyn enrolled when she was informed she could earn a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration through AIU Online in less time that it may have taken her at a traditional university. "Sometimes we need to change our strategy in order to improve our chances for success. Online learning was the change I felt I needed to improve my marketable knowledge and skills."
The encouragement Gerilyn found after earning a Bachelor's degree inspired her to set higher goals for achievement. "The knowledgeable and experienced staff at AIU not only helped me realize continuing my education is possible, they gave me further inspiration and assistance every step of the way. After earning my Bachelor's degree, I continued on to earn a Master's degree through AIU Online as well. Attending AIU has been a wonderful experience and helped make my dream of earning a degree a reality."
Gerilyn now feels she can set her goals higher than ever. "I have higher ambitions than ever. Before completing my Master's degree program my goal was simply to advance in my present position. I am now researching starting a business in the entertainment industry, which has always been another dream of mine. AIU Online brought me closer than ever to making my dream of owning and operating a business into reality."
Gerilyn has some words of advice for both current and potential AIU Online students. "Get involved with the learning opportunities AIU Online offers and put forth your best effort. AIU Online is very rewarding. The more you interact with students and staff through the Virtual Campus, the more you learn. You have the ability to make your learning experience with AIU both personal and rewarding. When I watch the DVDs of my graduation, I smile as I am reminded of where I started and where I am heading in life. Thanks to the top notch staff, my experience with AIU Online has been the best time of my life."
