No Time for Horsing Around

As the owner of a Colorado horse farm, Dona Shue breeds and trains horses for sale to dude ranches, families and outfitters. She doesn’t have much time for horsing around because she also manages a bed & breakfast and works full-time as an insurance customer service representative.

But all of these responsibilities haven’t stopped her from pursuing her dream to work as a freelance graphic designer. That’s why she’s studying for her Bachelor’s degree of Fine Art from AIU Online. “It’s certainly a full plate and makes for long days, but AIU Online's schedule is so flexible it isn’t difficult to fit classes in,” Dona says.

Pursuing her passion through AIU Online’s accelerated online courses has enabled her to apply her new skills to her current jobs. She’s redesigned logos and promotional brochures for her horse farm and bed & breakfast—and even gotten homework credit for her efforts!

“Thanks to my classes and the opportunities I’ve had to practice graphic design in the real world, by the time I’m actually finished with the program, I’ll have a great portfolio to show clients and be well on my way to my dream job as a freelance designer.”
