David L. Gardner
AIU Online Graduate

My name is David L. Gardner and I am a graduate of the School of Information Technology at AIU Online. I began my studies at AIU Online in March 2003 and ended in April 2005 with my Master's degree.

Twenty years ago, I attempted an education at a traditional college and soon discovered that my maturity was not well matched for higher education. Since my grade point was not to my parents' liking, I was given the choice of getting a job or joining one of the armed forces. Some would consider this choice cruel, but what my parents did for me at that time was probably the best things that could have happened to me.

Afterwards, when I had been in the Army for some time, I started to gain an interest in trying college again. I discovered AIU Online while investigating various options to meet my goals. Initially, I was somewhat nervous about attending school again, fearful of failing like I had in my youth. My fears soon dissipated after my first course, and the rest is history.

To anyone who is considering college, I can't recommend AIU Online enough. For those of us who have families and have to work to support them, online learning was realistically the only option I had. Without this online education being available, my dream of correcting past mistakes would have been impossible.

The combination of my education and my military experience has assisted me greatly in my job search, since my graduation. Although not involved directly with my job search, the AIU Online Career Services department, provided many benefits. The resume assistance, the convenient links to salary information, and the information provided in the Career Services section of the Virtual Campus assisted me greatly.

Currently, I am an Account Executive for Robert Half Technology, one of seven divisions of Robert Half International. I owe my success in my job search to my education at AIU Online, my military experience, and the many benefits provided by AIU Online's Career Services department.
