American Intercontinental University (AIU) Online is setting the example for conducting online adult education. For many of us, jobs, family, and special circumstances prevent us from pursuing higher education in the traditional university setting. After researching online universities and degree programs for a few years, I chose AIU Online to help me achieve my personal education goals. The curriculum, the instructors, and the support staff made obtaining my degree a challenging and pleasant experience. Friendships with fellow online classmates were established and the diversity of students enhanced my personal growth.

After 40 years of night and weekend classes, brownbag courses, and multiple moves with the military, AIU Online presented me with the avenue for degree completion. As a retiree, I am fortunate that I don't have to work, but the work ethic instilled in me as a child cannot be erased easily. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communication with a concentration in Digital Design, I have started a new business as a freelance designer. There is a world full of designers, but the level of skill they display does not compare to the skills I acquired at AIU Online. I weighed the difficulties of launching a new business into this field and soon found that I was more than capable of providing higher quality design products than many established designers. My web site will be launching soon, but I am already contracting business primarily with writers for book designs and artists for web sites. My philosophy is to go for it, regardless of your age.
