Fourteen years after I had received my Bachelor's degree, I found myself working in a school front office as the attendance clerk. I initially obtained and maintained employment at my current workplace in an effort to see whether or not I truly wanted to start an instructional career. The previous years had been consumed in the juvenile justice field working with children who had already been placed in the court system or addicted to a substance of some sort. By this time most of my clients could care less about who tried to do what for them. While I loved working with my clients, I wanted to work with them before this fate had a chance to be realized. I visited these very same children in the public schools letting me know that they had been just like their peers at one time or another. However once I was hired, I got side-tracked about what I really wanted to do until I saw an ad advertising AIU's Master's degree program. I was intrigued with the program, the completion time and the fact that the University is accredited. Since I have been in the program, my sister has been battling breast cancer and she lives with me. This has taken a toll on me and at times made me want to give up. Although ten months is a rather short period of time, it can feel like an eternity when outside forces interfere. Nevertheless, I waited a long time to go back to school so I persevered until the end. I tell my friends about AIU Online on a regular basis and recommend that they take advantage of the opportunity. I have had many positive experiences mostly within the group interactions and classroom discussion boards.

I aspire to start a home school and after school tutorial program after I return to my place of birth to spend quality time with my family. This requires me to be knowledgeable in areas of creating curriculum and delivering instruction.
