Family Matters
Our team supports your team!
There's nothing like the support of family to help you achieve your dreams and goals,
offer emotional support through challenging times and provide a grounded reality
for you as you serve your country.
At AIU Online, we fully comprehend the role family plays in the day-to-day lives
of our men and women in uniform. That's why we take many education benefits offered
to active military and veterans and extend them to their immediate families. One
such example is the AIU Online Freedom Grant. University grants or scholarships
are based on established criteria as published in the University’s catalog and are
awarded after verification that the conditions of eligibility have been met.
AIU has established a 15% grant for
active, inactive, and civilian military
personnel, discharged** veterans and
their immediate families* with the
opportunity to attend a degree
program of study at AIU. To be eligible
for the Freedom Grant and waived
application fee, a candidate must be
accepted for admission to the
University and allow for verification of
their military/civilian military employee
status (or for family members, the
relationship to the enrolled student)
and complete the Freedom Grant
Attestation form.
The conditions are as follows:
- The Freedom Grant is used exclusively toward program charges.
- The grant is awarded proportionately over each session in the
program.
- Qualifying students are active, inactive, and civilian military personnel, discharged veterans
and their immediate families.
Family members... make the most of the time your loved ones are away and serving
their country!
Many family members of our military students opt to share in their loved ones' educational
endeavors. When more than one family member is enrolled at AIU Online at the same
time, the shared experience offers them the opportunity to mutually support each
others educational dreams, optimize free time with a worthwhile cause and stay focused
on getting their degrees fast.
*Immediate family members: Spouse (life partner) or dependent children only. Siblings,
cousins, etc. are not considered an immediate family member.
**Discharged veterans must have a discharge other than dishonorable.
